Join us for an online information session led by our Interim Principal Instructor, Kelvin Devries. During this session, Kelvin will introduce you to the breadth of our highly-regarded program and offer a sneak peek into what you can expect. Running from late summer to spring, this comprehensive eight-month, full-time program is designed to teach you the fundamentals of plant sciences, plant identification, soil management, design, park maintenance, aesthetics, business practices and community awareness. UBC Botanical Garden's Horticulture Training Program can provide a direct path to establishing a career in private or public sector work in landscape horticulture or help you develop the foundational skills and knowledge for pursuit of a career in urban agriculture, arboriculture, landscape architecture, garden design, or floriculture.
Meet Your Expert Interim Instructor - Kelvin Devries:
Kelvin Devries brings 15 years of experience in horticulture to his role as Interim Principal Instructor for the Horticulture Training Program. With a background in Botanical Gardens and Arboreta, Kelvin is skilled in plant care, landscape design, and arboriculture. He holds education in Landscape Design and Ornamental Horticulture, as well as a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist designation and ISA Certified Arborist certification. Since 2022, Kelvin has focused on sustainable horticultural practices and woody plant management at UBC Botanical Garden.
